Team bonding: Influenced by Company Culture

Be it a startup or a large organization, companies spend a lot of time and resources to cultivate team bonding. The idea is to create a workplace that suits people from different walks of life, who can get things done.

However, creating a suitable workplace in one thing, and cultivating team-bonding among members is another. In this, the role of team leaders is crucial. A good leader is well-aware of the strong points of her/his team member and their weaknesses as well. A versatile leader can help the team collectively move towards their and the company's goals.

But team bonding is more than just the duty of a manager. It also requires the team members to take initiative as well as a great company culture that fosters it. Different companies have different engagement models for their employees, some have team dinners, some have company outings and some all of the above and then some more. The idea is to figure out what works for a certain team and how a company can elevate engagement.

Team bonding is also very important when we discuss the quality of work done by the team as well as how much connected the team feels to the task at hand. To motivate and inspire the team, a few things can be brought into practice. Let's take a look at a few of them:

  • Build trust among the team: This can be done by clearly defining the roles and duties of each member of the pack.
  • Self-motivation: Encourage the team members to take their initiative and follow a self-directed work culture.
  • Resolve conflicts: A lot of time is wasted in resolving disputes or difference of opinion, make sure to resolve them as quickly as possible.
  • Give a chance to speak: If you are a leader, listen to your team members and give everyone on the team an opportunity to speak their minds.
  • Feedback: Often we forget to appreciate the great work that our colleagues and team members do. Always remember to encourage your team member when they do a good job, and let them know where they need to improve.
